Five Local Native American Festivals & PowWows

Put a little Pow Wow into your summer!  Native American tribes put on some impressive Pow Wows and Festivals during the Summer and Fall where you can experience authentic dancing in full costume, Native American drumming, crafts demonstrations, and the more adventurous can taste buffalo burgers and venison stew.

First Nations Intertribal Pow Wow (Whitehall, NY)
August 7-8, 10am to 6pm (until 9pm on the 7th).  FREE, donation of non-perishable food item suggested. This Native American Festival will feature dance, hunting skills, storytelling, various Indian Ceremonies, carving, food, handmade items and crafts, and songs and music with drummers. 

Bear Mountain Native American Festival (Harriman, NY)
August 7-8, 11am to 7pm.  $12 adults, $7 kids, 6 and under free.
At this gathering, meet members of the Sioux, Navajo, Cherokee, and Mohawk tribes and try buffalo burgers, venison stew, and other Indian fare.  There are native craft exhibits, live birds of prey, pony rides, and of course music and dancing.

28th Annual Roasting Ears of Corn Festival (Allentown, PA)
August 21&22, 10:30am to 6pm. $5 adults, Kids 8-17 $4, 7 & under free.
Enjoy a day of Native American Dance, songs, craft demonstrations, tomahawk throwing, kids crafts and face painting, and food at the Museum of Indian Culture.

Lower Hudson Valley Native American Celebration (Yorktown Heights, Westchester, NY)
September 25-26, 11am to 7pm.  $12 adults, $7 kids, 7 & under free.

9th Annual Swift Horse Woman Native American Festival (Mt. Aetna, PA)
October 2&3, 10am (grand entry at noon), FREE, donation of non-perishable food item suggested.
