Spring into April with a jam-packed schedule of things to do, including festivals, shows, Earth Day, and outdoor fun. 

Signs of spring are popping up everywhere this April, and you can revel in the season at festivals like the Kites at the Pier in Long Branch, in which a dazzling display of giant kites is visible for miles. Or, admire the flowering trees and enjoy family-friendly events during the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival, which is held over two consecutive weekends.

This month also includes some great Earth Day festivals, including one in Cape May where the theme is "Planet vs. Plastics."

April arrives with fool-proof fun: bathe in glorious color at the Brooklyn Children's Museum's Holi Fest, catch the solar eclipse at Top of the Rock or one of these other local spots, shift gears at the New York International Auto Show, and celebrate Earth Day at the American Museum of Natural History, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, and during Car-Free Earth Day. You can also wander through the Architects of Air's Daedalum maze and hang with Mommy Poppins at one of our biggest events yet: Babytopia!

Plus, the sun (partially) disappears, which you can safely view at a Solar Eclipse Party at Cal Tech. The sun returns and leaves us fully illuminated to celebrate Earth Day at Heal The Bay. Things get really wild with the opening of the Skirball's newest exhibit, showcasing the art of Maurice Sendak.
